That's all folks! The exhibition halls are closed, the booths have been torn down and the panels have emptied. The 2014 San Diego Comic-Con came to an end... So, apart from what I've shared the past three days, here are some trailers and photos of this year's nerd paradise...

Avengers

The trailer that was shown on the panel, might be still hard to find on line, so instead, here's the video from the actual panel, with the appearance of Quicksilver (the other one, not the one from XMen :-p) and Thanos! Enjoy!

SD ComicCon Day 3

Day 3 in San Diego ComicCon, was definitelly a full day...
Picture

The Marvel panel

Of course the Marvel panel, with the cast from the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron film, was once again highly anticipated. Although it did not match last year's Tom Hiddleston's appearance, this year's panel was equally exciting.  The definite highlight though, was the first glimpse of footage from Age Of Ultron. The footage is not available on line yet, so stay connected to our FB page for daily updates on this and other projects.

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies

Picture
The cast of the (again) highly anticipated The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies film, appeared yesterday and here are some of their interviews to make you feel as if you were there:

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice

Zack Snyder, Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, and Gal Gadot joined the Warner Bros. Comic-Con panel and shared with the world the first teaser trailer from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (see below just pics, as al the videos keep being taken out of YouTube for the past hours), as well the first photo of Wonder Woman!

Sin City 2: A Dame to kill for

Picture
10 years ago, the first Sin City film, premiered its first footage at Comic-Con and now 10 years later, directors Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller, joined the panel along with Jessica Alba, Rosario Dawson and Josh Brolin who will take on the role of Dwight that Clive Owen played in the first movie.

Some facts that we picked up from the panel:
  • Josh Brolin was excited to work alongside Rourke, but because of the filming process on the Sin City sequel (where actors are often filmed against green screen backdrops by themselves), they never crossed paths, even though their characters cross paths in the actual movie
  • Rosario Dawson wasn’t supposed to shave her head to play Gale, but showed up on set with her head half-shaven – since she didn’t want fans to think she wasn’t “bringing it.”
  • Jessica Alba stated that the reason for making another Sin City film was that she "wanted to kick ass"
  • Robert Rodriguez composed some 80% of the film’s score sample using his smart phone, before he put the soundtrack properly together

Trubies unite for one last season

Picture
HBO's True Blood fans, were more than excited to welcome their favorite characters who signed aurographs and shared some footage from the upcoming last five episodes of the final season... (SPOILER ALERT for those that have not caught up till episode 5!)

Family Guy vs. The Simpsons

Picture
Ever wondered what would happen if Peter Griffin and Homer Simpson hung out at a bar while Bart and Stewie made prank phone calls? Well, at yesterday's Family Guy Comic-Con panel, you got your wish! In the Sept. 28 season Family Guy premiere, “The Simpsons Guy,” the albino Griffins wind up by accident in Springfield, where they are greeted warmly by the hepatits-y Simpsons. But a fast friendship christened with delicious doughnuts may be forever destroyed by an argument over Pawtucket Patriot Ale and Duff Beer, which leads to an epic chicken fight.
Fans had the chance to see 5 minutes from this epic episode:

The Vampire Diaries & The Originals

Picture
The Vampire Diaries cast
The VD panel kicked off with a hilarious video on the death (?) of Bonnie & Damon; is this the end? Will they be getting their own spin off show? (Joseph Morgan thinks not).
Later on they discussed Alaric's return, Stefan's evolution and Elena's reactions to the loss of her boyfriend and her best friend.

So, what about The Originals?
While the first season focused on the fighting over power in New Orleans, the second season will be all about family. Both Esther and Mikael are back, due to the Other Side falling on The Vampire Diaries. "When we decided to get rid of the other side on The Vampire Diaries we knew this was our only shot," says creator Julie Plec. "This is the only chance we're gonna get to bring these characters back and then defined the course of the whole season's storytelling." Rebekah returns, baby Hope as well and the creators leave room for possible VD crossovers.

Once Upon A Time

Picture
Jennifer Morrison (Emma Swan) and Colin O'Donoghue (Hook)
The Once Upon A Time panel, shared a couple of clips from the new season.

The first clip showed Frozen's Elsa and Anna at their parents' grave and dropped a bombshell that Anna is preparing for her wedding!
The second clip showed recently-reformed villain Regina telling her old friend the Mirror that she needed help getting rid of an enemy. Some things never change...

Ginnifer Goodwin (Snow White) greeted fans with a via video call from set that included a cameo by Michael Socha. Does this mean his Once Upon a Time in Wonderland character, Knave, will be heading to the Enchanted Forest soon? Only time will tell...

SD ComicCon Day 2

So, here's what happened on Day 2, San Diego ComicCon 2014:

Game of Thrones panel

Tons of our favorite cast members, along with the man himself, George R.R. Martin, joined the panel and here are some things that we've learned:

  • These guys are fun and try to stay on character, especially for the ComicCon fans! When Rory McCann (The Hound) arrived on stage, he was cradling his ear and mimicked hobbling to his seat. When Pedro Pascal (Oberyn Martell) came out, he was holding his head and scrunching his eyes closed!
  • Of course someone mentioned the on going subject of Jon Snow's maternity. The answer was simple: "Mrs. Snow."
  • Girls want to have (more) fun. Natalie Dormer (Margaery) and Sophie Turner (Sansa) expressed their wish to be more involved in sword fighting. "I want to kill someone," declared Turner and Dormer revealed that as someone who was really into swords, she was jealous of the actors who got to work with them, but acknowledged that  has "proven to have other weapons"
  • More Stannis! Producer and writer teased with a small detail from the coming season: "He's a fascinating character and we will be taking advantage of both the character and actor in the season."
  • The endless question Dragons or direwolves split the panel. When the group was asked -- by a girl dressed as Arya -- "dragons or direwolves?" the answers were varied down the line. John Bradley said Sam's friendship with Jon necessitated he pick direwolves while Rose Leslie and Gwendoline Christie went for dragons. The Starks and Snow -- Maisie Williams, Kit Harrington and Sophie Turner each backed: "direwolves of course," as did Natalie Dormer. George Martin demurred, as did Benioff and Weiss. For his part, Rory McCann bayed like a hound, and Pedro Pascal went with a snake. One twist: Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister) opted for a "direwolf ... because they're easier to kill."
  • "The show is the show and the books are the books," said Martin, addressing a recurring line of questioning including whether book fans should stop watching the show until the books catch up
  • Arianne Martell will not be joining for the cast of the fifth season, to great dissapointment of the fans
  • New cast members were announced, with Alexander Siddig being amongst them (Syriana). Siddig will have a major story arc as Doran Martell, the ruling lord of Dorne and older brother to Prince Oberyn Martell

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1

The highly anticipated second teaser trailer of the Hunger Games franchise was shown to screaming fans who simply cannot wait until November to see their favorite characters fight the Capitol!

The Book of Life

Picture
The animated feature directed by Jorge Gutierrez, Book of Life, featuring the voices of Channing Tatum, Christina Applegate, Ron Perlman, and Zoe Saldana was presented.  The animation is inspired by the Dia de Muertos (The Day of the Dead), a holiday celebrated in Mexico which is a day for friends and family to remember the ones they have lost.  This day has always been important to Gutierrez: he was married on this day because he wanted his best friend, who had died, to be his best man and this was the one day he could come back to do so. Much like an animated Moulin Rouge, some of the dialogue from the film is from modern songs including Radiohead’s “Creep,”  Ice Cube’s “Today was a Good Day,” and Biz Markie’s “Just a Friend.”  Biz Markie made a surprise appearance at the panel and sang his classic hip-hop song.

Tusk

Kevin Smith presented the first-look of his upcoming horror-comedy, which marked his return to moviemaking.

Horns

Picture
Daniel Radcliffe showed his devilish side when presenting his latest film, Horns, where he plays a young man who begins to grow a pair of horns after his girlfriend, played by Juno Temple, is found murdered.

SD Comic Con Day 1

25/7/2014

Picture
A large gathering of nerds has been reported since yesterday at San Diego… Yeap, Comic Con has officially started! The celebration of comic culture, cosplay, fantasy films and TV shows, has begun and here are some highlights from Day 1:

Community lives!

Picture
Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Jim Rash, Dino Stamatopoulos and creator Dan Harmon among others, lead the panel that discussed the revival of Community at Yahoo Screen.

With Joel McHale saying “f*ck network television”, the tone was set; the panel informed that Community will not return until Christmas 2014 but the good news is that Dan Harmon is fully in charge and there are no cable restrictions any longer.

Some members of the cast (Jonathan Banks and John Oliver) will not be returning for the new season and at the question as to who might occupy Pierce’s (Chevy Chase) seat in the study room now that Banks also left, McHale joked: “It’s Benedict Cumberbatch,”; making the crowd go wild in Ballroom 20.

So, now that we got the sixth season, can we get a movie??

Penguins of Madagascar

Picture
And why would this be a highlight? I’ve got two words for you: Benedict Cumberbatch.

Along with John Malkovich and Tom McGrath, they presented the Madagascar spin off but the fans seemed to be more interested in Cumberbatch and other rumored or not projects of his.
Picture
Teasing the rumors of him participating in the Doctor Strange project, he answered a question about which superhero he’d like to play with “Nurse Normal”, quickly adding "that was a joke on Doctor Strange."

Matthew McConaughey and Christopher Nolan make a surprise appearance to promote Interstellar

Picture
Comic Con fans got an amazing surprise yesterday! Christopher Nolan, made his first-ever appearance at the convention, to show off his upcoming sci-fi epic Interstellar, along with the star of the film Matthew McConaughey.

Interstellar, coming November 7, was inspired by theories that wormholes could potentially be used as a short-cut for long-range time travel.

McConaughey said Nolan even kept the story secret from him for as long as possible. “I got a call from my agent who said Christopher Nolan has a film and he wants to meet,” the actor told Bean. After visiting the director’s home for dinner, “three hours went by and he didn’t say anything about a new film or me having a role. Then a week later the script came.”

All men must drink

Picture
Outside of the panels and Ballrooms, GoT fans had the chance to taste Ommegang Brewery's latest collaboration with 'Game of Thrones,' Valar Morghulis Dubbel Ale. And who is better to serve it to the fans than the star of season 4, Pedro Pascal! Cheers everyone! Happy SDCC2014!

    Her Dudeness

Ever since I first set foot on a cinema theatre, I knew that something magical was happening there....

It's this thrill of somehow becoming (even for a little while) part of the other people's lives -  from different countries, times, cultures.

It's watching Marlon Brando in "The Godfather", it's singing "Shout!" at the tonga party in the "Animal House", it's Brad Pitt screaming "What's in the box?" at "7seven", it's overall the feeling that somehow "you're not in Kansas anymore"...
